The issue is that Monstrous Fangs are worth 1k at the trader and Monstrous Claws are worth 1.3k (at time of posting).

So players can make more money selling them to the Rare Material Trader than they can selling to you for 150gold as they will get 750g per Fang and 1k per Claw.

They think you're scamming by trying to get people to sell you an item for a fraction of it's value when in reality it would be worth a lot more and nearer the 1.5k they were mentioning.

If you're aware of these prices and are still asking to buy cheap materials is fine but if anyone checks the trader they probably won't sell to you and you'll get grief from players like that.

If they had any sense they would have told you the above information, just in case you didn't know.

As bsoltan said.

Otherwise, for the less-commonly used materials like these, you are best off just paying the outlandish trader prices than wasting time trying to buy them from players.

Nothing's 'up' with them. Check the rare mat trader prices before buying rare mats,it's that simple, so stop whining.

Trader prices determine player prices. Player prices are always between trader sell and buy prices.

Example:
Item A can be bought from the trader for 1k.
Item A can be sold to the trader for 800g.
Logically, it follows that player prices are between 800g and 1k, hovering around 900g.

Because:
If sellers want to sell for more than 1k, buyers would just buy from trader.
If buyers want to buy for less than 800g, sellers would just sell to trader.

Conclusion:
Always check the trader's buy and sell prices to determine player price.

So if you knew the price and still advertised to buy it that low, isn't that scamming? Since you're taking advantage of people who don't know they can get more from it from the rare material trader.

Its like buying black dyes from new players in Pre-Searing Ascalon for much less than what the Dye Trader would pay for it because they don't know. I can say I'm trying to save money, but thats still scamming.

WTF! is wrong with you people?? He aint scamming, he has offered to buy at a certain price and pay that price, now if he were advertising, say to buy at 500g and then payed only 400g per item then thats scamming. It is totally upto the person selling to make sure that they want to sell at that price or sell at the trader. Its like ecto's you cant get them until you wither do certain places far into the the game, if you dont know by the time you are that far into the game, how much they are worth then the mind boggles. Scamming!! IS when you are blatantly tricking/duping a person, NOT when you are clearly stating what you are doing/paying/buying.
I've sold items/materials, that are far below what the traders are paying, just simply to help out other players. It is not always the case in game to make money but to enjoy the playing experience and make the game also enjoyable to play for others.

It's not a scam by definition, it is however something that will piss off people who know what it's worth because they know you are abusing those who do not.

Scam? No.
Unethical? Possibly.
Pathetic? Yeah, a bit.

When you buy things cheaper than the normal price, you're gaining . Everyone does it all the time . I can buy a q9 vs for 50e instead of 55e . i'm saving 35k . now am i taking advantage of that ? o.o you'd do the same if you were me . sheesh >.> look . it's up to them if they want to sell it to me for 150 . never heard of doing a good deed ?

forget it . mods close thread please .

It's technically not a scam.

However, if you're trying to save some money, listing a "WTB" at a tenth of what they're normally worth isn't the way to do it.
